The end of September 2025 marked the opening of the world’s highest bridge. The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, as it is called, is located in Guizhou Province, China. This bridge cuts the journey from nearly two hours across the valley to a mere two minutes.

Rising 625 meters above the Beipan River, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is a vital part of the expressway connecting Liuzhi District in Liupanshui City with Anlong County, traversing one of China’s most rugged mountainous regions.

The opening of the world’s highest bridge has certainly attracted tourists from all over the world to see and experience it firsthand. Guizhou is known as the “province of bridges,” with more than 32,000 bridges built or under construction. Now, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is a significant milestone in a new route that improves connectivity in a province known for its challenging terrain.

A vibrant and refreshing turquoise green, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is approximately 2,890 meters long, with a main span of approximately 1,420 meters. More than just a technological marvel, it holds significant practical significance for China’s infrastructure ambitions. Built at a cost of CNY 1.87 billion (approximately USD 262.1 million), the bridge utilizes a steel truss suspension bridge design, with steel trusses weighing approximately 22,000 tons. The views from the bridge are certainly breathtaking, with its height comparable to that of a mountain, with the ravines and rivers below.
