Despite the recent robbery of the French imperial family’s crown jewels and their temporary closure, the Louvre Museum continues to attract a high number of tourists. Located in the heart of Paris, France, this museum is a must-visit destination and always attracts long queues. This is due, of course, to its valuable art collection, including the legendary Mona Lisa.
According to official reports, the Louvre Museum welcomed 8.7 million visitors in 2024, increasing to 8.1 million after the robbery. This fact confirms the growing popularity of this two-century-old museum. However, security and comfort are of course at stake.
Therefore, the museum management announced that it would increase ticket prices. The price has risen from 17 Euros to 32 Euros, a 45% increase. However, this ticket price increase does not apply to everyone. Visitors from European Union countries will remain at the normal price. Meanwhile, 32 euros will be charged for countries outside of that range, including the United States and China, the two countries that send the most tourists to the museum.
This 45% increase is expected to increase the Louvre’s annual revenue by 20 million euros and will be used to fund structural improvements to the museum. The new rate is scheduled to take effect on January 14, 2026, and management is confident that queues will remain long.
